Maragh had a chance to take the inside before they hit the turn. This is what I was referring to; not that he should've passed on the inside in the lane.
The winner and at least one other horse that won on the inside/front end Monday struggled to change leads and upon doing so experienced a 'resurgence' of sorts. While the rail was certainly the place to be, it might not've been as good as some would think.
When you consider the fact that the winner had 'wiped out' the field last out, as had the Toscano claim the day before, you also get an idea of why they both 'hung on'.
