I do remember that The Bid was being honored as a great runner on the same night that the harness superstar Niatross was being honored. Each was being paraded around the track; Niatross was the recipient of cheers and Spectacular Bid was the recipient of jeers. He was paying for his trainer's bragging. I cannot understand that behavior. The horse was a true champion, someone special. How can anyone actually dislike a horse? It is like disliking Lassie or Elsa the Lioness. Animals bring so much to our lives. Anyway, I am rambling, but I swear that there are people who dislike Bernardini because he is not Barbaro. Seattle Slew suffered this because he was not Secretariat.
