Dixie,
I suffered a horrible bout of ragweed allergies that really hurt my meet. The only place I could seek minor relief was the racing office. Its inside and air conditioned.
It takes a bit of restraint to watch races there because as you know, the biggest rule is no rooting of any kind. With so many jockey agents and trainers watching who all have vested interests in the race, you can't have rooting. So everyone strains silently.
Although I wish that ragweed have never evolved on this planet, I do have to say that listening to people like "the Chief" Mr. Jerkens is an experience that is incredible. When he starst speaking about racing events of decades gone by, and the knowledge starts coming out of his mouth, everyone just listens and doesnt say a word. Its also nice to watch a race and listen to what the trainers think of their horses performances and the rides that they got.
