Why in the world wouldn't Hard Spun make a terrific sire other then having bad luck. That colt was flat out fast and extremely good at two.

one in ten make it. it helps in hard spuns case that he's by a sire who could get anything, but it also helps that he has as much support from the farm as a horse could hope for.
BUT, he could still be a failure. one in ten-that doesn't mean one in ten good ones. a lot of horses with huge potential were absolute duds, and racetrack prowess does nothing for their second career.
look at where the bid ended up for one, alysheba is another. no givens, and not much time to prove themselves. he either shows early promise, or he'll get sold and shipped off.
