As someone who was born and raised in the NYC metro area and came out to the San Francisco area 20 years ago i can say without a doubt that Saratoga racing rules over Del Mar. And, you can extend that to New York Racing rules over California. No one should even debate that fact. When i was in a position to buy a couple of horses this year for the first time ever i did not hesitate to buy NY Breds although i am 3000 miles away from them....

Del Mar is a beautiful setting but so is Saratoga. They are both beautiful in their own ways just different. North Beach County San Diego has the most beautiful beaches in our state and there is something about spending a week during the meet and being able to swim in the Pacific in the morning and go to the track for their 2pm post time....

Saratoga and spending time around the barns and going to the Oklahoma track in the mornings is also quite beautiful and special.... My last wish would be to spend August in Saratoga and spend every morning at the barns at Saratoga Race Course....

The racing is a joke in California and the racing at Saratoga is the best that we see all year on a consistent day-to-day basis followed by Keeneland.....

For what its worth, that is my opinion living out here on the Left Coast.
