I am sure the tram tour will be fun with the kids. I've never take the tour myself, but I see it every morning on the backstretch. The tour guide points out Funny Cide on the track, Curlin, etc. and people seem to get into it. Usually around the coffee stand, jocks and trainers are hanging out so people get to see them as well.
As far as the breakfast, if you are talking about the buffett on the porch, downstairs, I've been there. It's a basic breakfast buffett -- mass produced eggs, potatoes, bacon, bagels, pastries, fruit, etc. They do serve Krispy Kreme donuts though! LOL. It's OK, that's all.
If you'd rather go into town -- for breakfast -- I like Ravenous (crepes) and Beverly's, and breakfast at the Horseshoe. If you want a buffett, try Bookmaker's at the Holiday Inn.
