Yes, I'm obsessed. I know. And he wasn't even my Derby pick.
Here's a question for the breeding experts-- not getting my hopes up, but IF he makes it, and IF he is unable to support his weight on his hind legs for breeding purposes, is there any possibility he could be used, via AI for breeding horses for other equestrian disciplines? Other disciplines permit artificial insemination, right?

Yes virtually every other breed association uses A.I. In a situation like Barbaro's it would be very useful as you can brred multiple mares on one collection, therefore preservinh him even more. I personally am a huge fan of A.I, as it eliminates the travel stress and chance for injury and sickness in young foals. I love just driving to the airport, picking up the ''container'', and meeting the vet at my house where my mares and foals are safe and sound.
