My brother was in a golf tournament with Art Bier once, and he said Art was a pretty nice guy in person that day.

But honest to goodness, being at Northfield for years completely cured any betting desire I might have to bet any driver in a sulky.
As a person to hang out with, Art was a pretty nice guy. Great sense of humor, great stories from back in the day. According to the stories, he was just -- well, he was what he was. LOL. I think by the time he got to the Meadowlands, he had a small stable, with a few owners and was just looking to make a living. His one son became a driver and moved around a bit (Poconos, Pompano). The other son trained with Art and I don't know where he ended up. The youngest son you just knew was going to become a driver. He had the bug for it and more so the hands for it since he was a little kid. He started driving as soon as he could. I don't know where he is today.
