just read adams' bio--he wasn't a slave owner, and his home state of mass. was the first to ban slavery in the colonies.

jefferson avoided all conflict (face to face) and would say nothing, adams wasn't afraid to confront anyone about anything.

as far as jeffersons views--he felt that african americans were inferior mentally. matter of fact, unlike washington, he didn't free his slaves when he died-not even the mother of 5 of his children. his daughter did that tho.

as for helms-ask carol mosely braun how she thought helms felt about blacks.
