I kept Come Back Ronnie in my stable mail. I would show up evertime he ran.
keyed him 1st & 3rd in the trifecta. He was the kind that if the race set up for him. He won. if not he would get up for 3rd. Huge late kik
that was on the east coast
they switched him to Cali and he ran 2nd
messed me up totally
took him out of my stable mail
he was getting old
I could never bring myself to bet against Cigar
he was always too short to bet flat. I was always trying to figure out who would run 2nd and third.
This is a long time ago. You usd to be able to pick different tracks and get different pools with different odds.
This guy looked around saw Dare and Go had he best odds at Louisiana Downs
asked the teller for the simulcast at Loser Dwns and we all know what happened.
The whole place was disappointed that Cigar had lost. All but him
when he stuck the ticket in my face, I said "Wrong track - it's not a winner"
he argued with me and I simply said "go get your money then"
I alwas thought it was unAmerican to bet against an American hero like Cigar. Glad he lost his bet.
