The connections are certainly downplaying it. That is certainly not a minor, insignificant quarter crack. That is a really bad quarter crack.
That's not to say that it will necessarily bother the horse. You never know for sure. It's not an exact science. Even if it is does bother him in the race, he may still win because he may be so much the best that even if he regresses by 5 lengths he may still win.
