The thing is if you can't shed blocks and lose a step your value drops a lot more dramatically than it may for other linebackers. This guy is a leader and was a great player, if Parcells thought he had anything left he'd keep him around to help lead and mentor the new guys coming in. Pro Bowls don't mean that much. Ruben Brown has been to nine of them and isn't that great of a lineman. He used to absolutely own Zach Thomas though when the Bills and Dolphins would meet up.

He was small and short for a NFL middle linebacker but he made tons of tackles on some really good defensive units. As a Dolphin fan I may be biased but I thought he was a very good player for a longtime. However as you stated, he cant afford to lose a step especially with the type of contract that he has. I hope he retires.
