Racing Incident Report
BOOM began awkwardly, got its head up and lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. WHATAFANTASY was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when bumped by EXPRESS WIN which was carried in by ULTRA FANTASY which in turn was carried in by ISLAND SPEED. In the middle stages, particularly making the Home Turn, STRONG GAIN hung out. Throughout the race, BULB KING travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned, A Delpech (ISLAND SPEED) said the intention had been to lead on the horse. He said his mount began well, he then rode along, however, CANNONISE and FIFTY FIFTY which had drawn to his inside had mustered superior speed. He said approaching the turn at the 600 Metres he took his mount back to a position behind CANNONISE with cover to avoid being trapped three wide. He said in the Straight ISLAND SPEED was disappointing in the manner in which it closed the race off and in his opinion the horse was not suited by today track conditions as it appreciates some cut in the ground. CANNONISE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CANNONISE after the race did not show any significant findings. ISLAND SPEED, FIFTY FIFTY and ULTRA FANTASY were sent for sampling.
