Jackson did nothing more than lend his name to Manley and his applying for the job. Nothing more than a lot of hype and PR. Anyway, it's already been decided as to who will fill the new position.
Manley let the Guild Board know quite some time ago that he was going to resign. They just didn't want to announce it, or who the successor was, for a variety of reasons, but the official announcement will be made tomorrow or the next day.
