I was there. You really need to picture this. We pull up to what could pass for a French country house which is what it was, an incredible old house, white two story, out in the country, with portico, just smells of class and money. So we go in and fill the entry area of the place, and a number of us gradually looked at each other and our sweaty baseball caps, shorts and t-shirts, and subliminally consider the fact that we had not had any alchohol in like 30 minutes and we are probably certain to grab a wine list, after martini's for all 15 of us (my guess) and do serious damage. We looked at the blue blood crowd with many in coat and tie, white table clothes, candles, checked out the menu and did a little math, and said "this is a potential debacle". This was just a classic replay of the Blues Brothers who show up in the french place in Chicago, and get loaded and say "the little girl, how much for the women?"
To the credit of the nice folks who run the place, they were game, but after everyone agreed this was not the place to spread out the form for the next day, I was the one who offered our apologies for their efforts to seat us.
Anyway, all was well, we found a wonderful place that was more than prepared for the DT groove.
