Gotaghostofachance barely won a terrible race last out, prior to that was no count versus these types. Siren Lure was beating on cream puffs last year when in form, has taken a decided step back since the BC. Publication had every shot to get second in the Ack Ack and actually let Siren Lure reclaim that spot at the wire. Greg's Gold had 3 tough races right off the bench recovering from a serious injury, imploded in Kentucky and the 7f doesn't seem as good a fit for him as 3/4s. Battle Won is game, but hasn't gotten the job done in easier spots.
I think its between Surf Cat and Silent Name. The former should romp if he's near top form, which is likely considering Headley's work with previous layoff types. He's also a proven router, which is always an advantage going 7f. Silent Name's last is a throwout with the bad break, and the return to a synthetic surface (one he has trained on for several months) makes him attractive at a square price. May have a tactical advantage over Surf Cat with plenty of early speed. Just have to hope no physical issue emerged from the Met Mile (grabbed quarter, etc.). Mandella has finally settled on El Roblar's best trip (late running sprinter), but his class is still in question, so I'll relegate him to minor awards with a couple of Grade 1-2 calibur horses in the lineup.
