Phil Jackson gets all the credit but I think Collins deserves more. Every team that becomes a winner has to go through a process. For the Bulls, these were their learning years. But in each of his seasons, he took them further than the year before, losing in the first round his first season, the semis his second and in the conference finals his third. Each time, they lost to the team that went on to represent the East in the championship. It was Boston in 1987 and Detroit in the next two years. Those were good teams that were beating them. It's the same thing Detroit had to do before they were ready to win championships. It's the same thing that Shaq Lakers had to do before they were ready to win. They all made yearly steps until they were ready. Then Fortunate Phil rides in and gets all the glory. I hate that guy.
