I remember when Gomez was riding at Sunland Park a few years ago---right before he went to jail infact---his dominance for the short time he was there was off-the-charts.
He was by far the most underrated jockey in Southern California earlier this decade...when he always struggled to make the top 10...and people would argue with you that Jose Valdiva is "far better" than him.
I haven't seen any improvement in his riding throughout this decade....funny what happens when you consistantly get better stock. Going into 2005, VERY few people would have rated him a top 20 jockey.
