Well it is interesting to see different points of view, and to try and understand where they are coming from, no matter how hard it is to understand. I know exactly what you mean, having lived in Portland, Oregon. I got used to it there and then moved back to the Midwest. Outside of Chicago, the entire region is more or less conservative. I had come to just assume that most regions were like Portland (which is basically the west coast version of liberal NE cities) and it was a rude awakening to realize that I had been living in fantasy world out there.
