That's a pretty poor analogy. Is it
possible Pletcher isn't telling the whole truth? Yes, but it's not particularly likely. Horses do train in bar shoes and not run in them sometimes. Horses run with bar shoes and win sometimes as well. Suggesting he has some debilitating injury ( like a torn ACL ) defies logic.
Sounds more to me like he already has his excuse however. A phony excuse....but they usually are.
