With the field size being what it is, and the other "issues" that occur such as post position draw, traffic and troubled trips etc etc I feel that this is a race to draw back and not spend as much time and money on. What you are saying is absolutely true. There IS the challenge of hitting on the 2 biggest days in racing. The payouts are always huge, especially on the exotics. Do I do well on these days? Hardly ever. Maybe 4 good days in the last 10 years. But every trainer is trying to win these races... they're not using the races for preps (unlike some races, that you hear about after the race... Argh!). So these races are about as honest as you're going to find.
