With the field size being what it is, and the other "issues" that occur such as post position draw, traffic and troubled trips etc etc I feel that this is a race to draw back and not spend as much time and money on. I think a lot of people get the "Derby Fever" and just unload on this race when the money is dancing in the undercard. I think folks like the challenge. To some, it's like the biggest stage for a handicapper, the proving ground for true prowess. Obviously, that's a little ridiculous, as luck is an even bigger part of this race than other races, but it's the allure of the huge event. It's why people are drawn to "guaranteed pool" multirace exotics. One can make just as much money, if not more, playing in pools that aren't "guaranteed," but it's the challenge of beating a larger amount of players.
