Then asking him for speed only in the later stages. Ordinarily you wouldn't change tactics in a big race but they knew what they were up against with Invasor and PT. Perhaps they felt that DC was not going to be able to take those guys gate to wire so they decided to try something different. I don't know, just speculating.

They may have thouht that he was talented enough, that the only thing that could beat him would be getting caught in a speed duel with Kandidate.
Didn't he come from a bit off the pace in the derby last year over there? I can't remember exactly.
