Today people have said that Lava Man is really just a "claiming horse" and apparently Discreet Cat is a "piece of garbage." That is insane. They are both talented, but limited, horses.
If Discreet Cat is a "piece of garbage" what were those horses he defeated in the Cigar Mile or the UAE Derby last year? Were they world-beaters? No. But according to you they were considerably worse than a "piece of garbage." That is incorrect.
Based on his performance in his first six races, he had not earned some of the praise that he had been given, but he also does not deserve to be labeled a piece of garbage after the race today.
Why did he lose? Maybe it was the layoff. Maybe he wasn't 100%. Maybe it was the 10f. Maybe it was a poor strategy by the jockey. Maybe his skills have declined considerably since last year? Maybe he can't take dirt in his face anymore?
Some of these reasons have more validity than others but ALL of them have more validity than your insanely reductionist "piece of garbage" explanation.
i lost alot today on him, and i dont even think hes a peice of garbage and im hoping they dont retire him i still belive hes the best miler in the world and could be very affective up to 1 1/8
