Wonderful to know!!
Actually, as I told you, costs of acquiring and training a horse here are much, much lower than in the USA. We can send any horse to the USA, but the idea is to send horses that will perform well there and, that way, justify paying higher maintenance costs.
There are 2 ways of increasing the chance of acquiring a horse with potential to go to the USA:
- Buying a colt in a respected auction here (best stallions, mares, breeders, etc), and of course, that he develops into a good runner. The pros of acquiring a colt like that here in Brazil is that he can be trained and tested here with much lower costs during the (nearly) one year between the acquisition in an auction and his 2yo debut;
- The other way is buying a proven horse in training here with soundness and potential to run against american horses. I mean, brazilian stakes winner or placed or impressive maidens. Of course this alternative is more expensive, but represent less risks and less time to send the horse to the USA.
I think everything will depend on the number of people willing to participate and our objectives.
See you!
