I think it depends , Ive seen crooked legged horses who you never thought were going to make a race turn out to be super stars and I have seen some royaly bred horses that couldnt run a lick . I cant tell you how many A.P Indys out of blue blood stakes winning mares I have seen come thru the barn that werent fast enough to scatter their own poop. I have seen alot of Storm Cats come in and never make a race , then I have seen horses like HalfBridled who was out of a very average mare be a freak at 2 . Breeding is alot of luck , you can breed correct sound horses to correct sound mares and get a crooked legged thing that cant walk , you can breed a crooked legged horse to a crooked legged mare and get a perfect individual. Its luck of the draw in my humble opinion.
