Thanks for the kind words RQ. Perhaps I do better at tracks where I know almost nothing about the horses, jockeys, trainers and track biases. Keeps me from overthinking things, as I am wont to do.

I'm not sure what your "feelin" was telling you about our next venue, but right now my inclination is to take us to Churchill Downs in exile, also known as Ellis Park. The G1 Stephen Foster and the stakes races on the undercard look appealing, even though I can't remember that our small group has even actually played a contest at Ellis. If any of you remember that we have, please tell me. I'll post the full venue details by late tomorrow.

I've been watching a few races at Ellis since CD moved its meeting over there, and have come across what to me is an interesting factoid. One of the views that the Ellis feed includes is of the large steel bridges that cross the Ohio River. What fascinates me is that these bridges head South from Ellis toward Kentucky. That places Ellis Park in one of the very few, if not only, places in Kentucky that is located on the North side of the Ohio River, immediately adjacent to Evansville, Indiana. Things like that occasionally happen when a river changes its course after state boundary lines have been established, as they were for Kentucky in 1792. The Kentucky/Indiana state line runs about a 6-iron shot North of the track, in what was probably the riverbed 230 years ago.
