Here is what can probably be assumed. There was a race at Great Lakes that was either found to be suspicious by stewards, an owner, a trainer, or someone actually involved didn't feel they got their "fair share" of the proceeds from something less than on the level.
That being said, I am not shocked that none of the folks most likely to have profited (tellers, bartenders, etc) at the track are keeping quiet. Whether or not they can get in trouble, it is not likely the first time it has happened. They aren't going to give up the people who help them make a little extra cash...are they?
It will all come out soon enough and it'll be another black eye for racing. It's a shame really, no matter what happened.
