Quite the wild show with that nasty pudding-like track. Poor Mendelssohn not only slammed at the start but into the first turn (I think). But wow, Justify, he delivered on all the hype. Amazing.

DonGuido adds another KY Derby glass to his collection with a sweet win! Real Quiet was up there for second. JolyB ran a respectable third. RUFFIAN-333 was close on his heels in fourth.

If you haven't seen it, here's a link to a great interview with Aiden O'Brien about the experience. He is all class and one of the very best trainers in the world. I found his comments on the American Racing culture particularly interesting. Racing is so different all around the world, on dirt, grass, etc. https://www.racinguk.com/news/ten-th...kentucky-derby
Yes I did read his comments on Bloodhorse. Very insightful and worth all non-USA trainers to study before they come to the big show(s). He is one of the best in the world, but let's not forget our own Bob Baffert. Nuff said!!! Lest, I must say Justify could be or maybe already is a FREAK. HE is something else to behold and just hope his little "scratches" dealy (never heard of it, any one else here has?) is nothing.

And as for the Derby Glass, Plen as always coveted and generous prize (2 or 3? lost one in a move box maybe), I hope to build a shelf in my study just for those very generous offerings on Derby Day!!!
