OK, that clarifies it and it was the right move. You have to do right by the public and I only wished the PR department had said that sooner. Then they can go back and see what happened. If it was a steward error, those people work for the state, I'd ask for a check. If it was a tote error, the same. If it's a NYRA error, you learn from it, adjust and move on.

This was an extremely rare case. I've only seen this maybe once before and that was many years ago with old technology.

I think it was a missed opportunity for NYRA to release an immediate press release. "Hey, we had a confusion today on the superfecta and announced official the incorrect order. We have paid the full payouts on the incorrect, original order and the revised order. NYRA has put $50,000 into the pool to make sure everybody who had the winning tickets were fairly paid. Our customers come first."

Was a great opportunity lost.
