it would have been really great if dave johnson had been doing the call there like he did for the west virginia derby.
he would have found some way to screw up which horses were battling for the lead out of the gate and it would have taken him all of the next 14 furlongs to get it straight.
then we would have been treated to a hurried "and down the stretch they come" for the only horse that had actually reached the stretch.
