Lets test your knowledge with a question about the Travers & Horse of the year honors. However this trivia is about horses that did NOT win the Travers:

From 1950 to 1983 three Travers also - rans have still gone on to Horse of the Year honors. They are?

The last would be a guess.....Bold Ruler in 1957?

I assume you mean the horse lost the Travers and was Horse of the Year in the same year.

Since the question starts in 1950, I'll guess Hill Prince for that year.

good question. I can name two of them, but I am having problems with the third one. He must of been am old timer.

1978-Affirmed (lost it on a DQ to Alydar)

No one was able to answer the Track Trivia question for Monday correctly. From 1950 to 1983 three Travers also rans went to capture the horse of the year honors: They are:

Tom Fool 1953
Affirmed 1978 & Conquistador Cielo in 1982.

It was Tom fool that fooled those who attemtempted to beat the "Track Trivia" question of the day. Look for Tuesday's question to hit the net about 5:30pm as we prepare for a Classic NorEastern snow storm starting Tuesday night!

Isn't that a bit of a trick answer?

Tom Fool's Horse of the Year campaign was as a 4yo I believe, and of course his Travers loss would have come the year before... No?

1953 HOY TOM FOOL
tom fool was 10 for 10 ( albeit against 3 or 4 opponents each time )

1952 lost travers
