i have never thought much of this horse, but i was looking over the pool 1 pp's today and the more i look at this horse the more i like. seemed like nothing more then a solid grinder type horse as a 2yr old then off of a 2 month layoff goes 1:09.4 at gulfstream in a great comeback race, now i just read on drf.com that he won some race today and almost broke the track record...

Nothing more prestigious than those Ocala Training Center track records.

I like the horse and have really liked Green Vegas but I'm not going to get too excited until I see what he does in the Fountain of Youth.

Ocala Training Center? Someone PLEASE explain...can one even place bets there?

No wagering, just a showcase for Ocala/Adena sales grads. Once a year.

I was there today and it was interesting... walking in the paddock, they had front wraps on Buffalo Man, but when he was saddled, they took the wraps off. Does anyone know why they would do this? He's a nice looking colt for sure... Green Vegas was very nice as well, and is worth a look as a legit contender for the derby IMO.

Were they VetWrap rundowns, like horses wear in the back for races??

Lots of times, i have seen horses come into the paddock with velcro splint boots, just to keep them from rapping a leg on the walk over, that are meant to be taken off during saddling. But they look much thicker than run-downs...

That track used to be very deep and slow, but the last couple years they have souped it up so the sales breezes are quicker.

It's used as a training center throughout the year and the workouts have become noticibly quicker over the last five years there. Used to get some nice overlays when a horse would work a 1:03 at OTC it was like a 1:00 or less at CRC or Tampa. Not anymore.

They were bright blue polo wraps.

Oh, then i wouldn't read anything into that as far as unsoundness... in KY i have noticed a lot at Keeneland that wear bell boots over, and certain trainers use polos on all their horses, since it's quite a busy walk/paddock scene...

Yeah, I wasn't worried because they actually took the wraps off before he ran, but I was just curious as to why they would have had them on at all. I thought they may have been trying to sweat him out or something, but they don't typically do that right before a race, do they? :confused:

Anything requiring a "sweat" on the leg would probably be bad enough that it would scratch out of the race. At least in the horses i've wrapped, it has to be a fairly significant injury/swelling, with saran-wrap over the area before the bandage. Can't speak for everyone, though!
