Dark Angel...anothe mistake by Fox

This was a series that I never had the opportunity to watch, I had heard good and bad comments about it and Fox cancelled it after two seasons (ironically, their excuse was to make room for Firefly...what a joke!). Having time on my hands, I decided to give it a chance and I'm glad I did. Jessica Alba is a very attractive young woman, I doubt I'll get few arguments even here about that, but I was always told she couldn't act...those folks are wrong, she was wonderful in the lead role of Max here. The entire cast is excellent and the story lines run smoothly with continuity, the character development is excellent as well...I found myself caring about all the major characters as well as the minor ones. Michael Weatherly was engaged to Jessica at the time this show was shot and their natural chemistry is apparent. Jensen Ackles was great, especially in season two and Valarie Rae Miller as Jessica's best friend was absolutely spell-bounding! James Cameron created this show and directed the final episode. All in all, a dark show that won't be for everyone but probably should be required watching for all high school kids due to it's very important message and (unfortunately) dead-on depiction of the American mindset.

In retrospect, my last sentence was a bit unfair...I should have said, "dead-on depiction of modern man's mindset" as fear of those different than us is a world-wide pandemic.

This show started my love for Micheal Weatherly... YUMMY!!!!!

I really wish they would have given it one more season. I hated how they ended it. But then again, I hated how they ended Angel too.

I agree...the ending left so many story lines unresolved. Fox had originally announced that it was renewed for a third season then abruptly cancelled it! I can't help but think that the post 9-11 mindset had a lot to do with it! If you have the DVD, play the commentary to the last episode, they talk about what season three would have been like. The huge reveal in the last episode was so ironic...there are 3 books out that attempt to resolve the story but I haven't read them and reviews seem mixed. Fox...as usual...has great shows done by the best creative minds in the industry...and murders them! Joss Whedon, Tim Minear and James Cameron...simply doesn't get any better than that!

I agree, Michael Weatherly is an excellent actor...and him being engaged to Jessica sure helped with their character's chemistry!
