I definitely agree, and I'm not ranting because I didn't have a dollar on the race. He wasn't going to win the race regardless, but it's hard to believe those were the instructions he got. You don't see a horse in last go 4 wide into the first turn in last place very often. At least he made up for it by continuing in that path all the way around the track. I thought Leparoux was smarter than that.

It seems obvious to me that they were rushing this horse, trying to catch lightening in a bottle.

I was curious about the ride myself but you know what? Since he was wide and in the clear the whole race there are no excuses and you really know what you've got. If he would have closed well and let's say finished with six lengths of the winner despite the wide trip you could have made the case that he made a big step forward and that the trip was the reason for the defeat.

They need to back off and give the horse more time in my opinion. I hate to see when horses get the "Derby push" when they clearly aren't ready or are not talented enough.

He worked fairly slow in the two year old sale, but still sold well...guess a few months maturity didn't help, but I think he still runs like a disinterested horse.
