Gorella and Lady of Venice

These two horses are my favorite two female horses in training right now. We prob wont ever get to see these two horses hook up in a race, but boy would that be a great race. I assume Gorella will go in the mile and Lady of Venice will go in the Filly and Mare Turf.

Actually, I think I read that Biancone plans to send Gorella to the F & M tuf this year.. I'll if I can find it. I agree. These two are great, I want to see them hook up in a race too.

Yeah, by the sounds of this Biancone quote, she's pointed to the F&M Turf!!!

http://drf.com/drfNewsArticle.do?NID=75343&subs=0&arc=1

"The only reason why we ran her against colts on Derby Day," Biancone said, "was to see how she would like the Churchill Downs turf, and how she would like going longer, because the Breeders' Cup filly race on turf is there this year. It was an education race for us. So, if we found out she didn't like Churchill, we would have looked at something other than the Breeders' Cup with her. But we were very pleased with her race, and now she goes back to a more normal program against fillies and mares."

Absolutely FANTASTIC. This is something to really look forward to. Might be the best race on the Breeders Cup card.

Yep, Biancone is loaded and these two can really run...also, I still think Asi Siempre has a huge upside...she never had a chance in her last....I bet she proves to be top class (for American turf standards) as the season moves along....could be a real sleeper in the Beverly D. at ARL..

Do you know if Hurricane Run is going to come over for the Arlington Million and the BCT?

Melhor Ainda belongs at or near the very top of any list of top female turfers but everyone has forgotten her. She proved it last year, especially as a 3 year old against older mares in the Beverly D. She has a devastating late kick and tons of class and gameness. Watch out for her when she runs -I just love this girl.

GORELLA! I have been touting this mare since last year. Awesome filly that is going to improve more and more. I don't know if she wants more distance or not but I am rooting for her and she is an awesome closer so maybe added distance won't matter. If Gary had given her a better ride last year in the Mile, you all would be on her band wagon right now. She is the goods. I love to watch her run.

Yeah I liked her ever since last year as well. I was there at Keeneland when she came up the rail to lose by the shortest of margins. I didnt think Mehor Ainda was still racing--or maybe I was thinking of Cesario.

I think you are right but I would travel to go see that horse race.

How about the ride J Lep gave Lady. He was not to be stopped. Muscled that horse between 2 others down the stretch. I was standing right at the winners circle when they came in, it was awesome. Never really paid attention to ride a jock gives before I signed on a few mos ago, but I can really appreciate it now. The boy has talent.

She injured herself in the Flower Bowl and hasn't been seen since, but Melhor Ainda is working very steadily now - last I heard, Bobby was thinking of running her straight w/o a prep into the Diana. She's an wonderful, wonderful filly but I think that's a mistake. The Diana is not run until mid-July and MA will probably be ready to run way before then, if she's not already raring to go now. Long layoffs don't bother the filly, though - she's won off of them before

I dunno man...not saying Julien is a bad rider, but as ArlJim pointed out the other day, anyone could've ridden that horse to victory...the amount of gas LoV had left in the tank on the turn was something like I've never seen...

He did on okay job on Happy Ticket in the Fleur de Lis. Give the kid some credit. He's a talented jockey-great patience and hands.

ateamstupid 06-19-2006 03:55 PM

As I said, I'M NOT SAYING HE'S NOT A GOOD RIDER, and he did give a good ride to Happy Ticket, who tends to stop once she strikes the front.

All I'm saying is Tony Siragusa could've ridden Lady of Venice to victory yesterday.

zippyneedsawin 06-19-2006 04:15 PM

Lady of Venice has been invited to the American Oaks. Think they'll run her back in 2 weeks?

Oh yeah, the horse was the one not to be denied for sure, but Julian didn't have much room to shoot through and he got er done.

When I told Patrick Biancone about a month ago that I was very impressed with Lady of Venice's win at Keeneland he gushed about her for ten minutes and told me that while he has trained many good horses she might be the best filly he ever trained. He said he has never had a horse that trains as well as she does.

After Gorella won the Just a Game I told him it was a pretty nice performance for the second best filly in his barn.

I'd like to see those two in a workout together! They'd probably push each other a bit too hard though!
