Thanks Oracle

I went to the track on a spur of the moment on Saturday. We drove down to Louisville for the Stephen Foster Day. Now I am not into all the simulcasting when I am at a live meet. But I sat down and said that I am going to bet Belmont today (which I never do). I took everything that Oracle has ever written about New York racing and put it to work. My standard bet was $20 across. The first race I had the 2nd place horse but ended up making $2 on that race. The next race was a no brainer with the Levine entry. The 3rd race was a no brainer as well with Mohegan Sky. The fourth race also was a no brainer with Always Albert. But the 6th race is where his knowledge came to play. The 6 horse Saviano looked ok to me but would have passed. But I used some of Oracles knowledge and Saviano gets up at 8-1. I had the 2nd place horse in the 6th and the 3rd place horse in the 7th. I had the 2nd place horse in the 8th. Then I had the winner in the final two races. But thanks Oracle for your knowlegde and insights to New York Racing. If it wasnt for Belmont I would have lost HUGE because I only got show spots at Churchill.

What exactly did you learn from him that helped you cash?

Buffymommy 06-19-2006 10:54 AM

Well, we should all bow down and kiss his butt! Oracle is KING. :p

Well he posts about trainers and their habits, he has post about the Belmont track and some of its biases. He posts about jocks and things like that. It really isnt one single post that stands out--it is a bunch of posts with little hints in them. Put them together and you can figure out New York Racing. Well, it worked for me.

I don't feel much like a King. Had a very bad week. 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd ,2nd ,2nd. Lots of nice prices I liked and 2nd all weekend. The frustratiing part was that my concepts were correct, but I couldnt execute on them. Took a stand against spun sugar, and Nothing But Fun is 2nd. Took a stand against a lot other bad faves who lost but I didn't grab the winner. very frustrating.

And then to top it off I had a filly purchased for someone and under contract and she didn't vet out. I'd rather forget the last three days and pretend they didn't exist.

You and me both, Mike... I had an awful weekend too. It seems like everyone around me had an awful weekend. :(

That sucks about your guy's weekend. My weekend was uneventful. Friday went out to eat and the home early for bed. Saturday our couch was suppose to arrive but it didnt so I went to the track. Sunday, I went shopping and helped clean a little. A nice boring married life weekend.

Your Dutrow horse ran well. Nothing wrong with that effort. Just think, last week her career could have ended. Hope she runs in the test when I am up at Sartoga, although that may be a little short for her.

Yeah, things never seem to go like you think they will. Woke up Friday morning excited that nice weather was coming in, that a great weekend of racing was on tap, and that I had a deal done. Delusions of a wonderful weekend swirled through my head. By Saturday night I couldnt wait for it to be over. Its why I usually try to keep expectations low, the disappointment isn't nearly as severe when you don't expect much in the first place.

Santos is a moron, grade one type. Track was favoring inside speed and if you couldnt be on the lead you wanted to be on the rail. For no apparent reason other than stupidity he decided to take off the rail and then when he had a chance to get first run at the tiring leader he hesitated and allowed Gasia to pull of the rail and the make the first run indstead, carrying her even wider in the process. The final time was good, and since she up against the bias the race wasn't bad. She didn't despise the track which is good since the race was a prep for the Oaks run over the same track in July. Should be a bigger field and more pace in that race. May work out ok.

I had a week like that about a month ago. A very elderly family member passed after a long illness. I spent a week doing nothing but being sad, making arrangements and driving back and forth to the airport more times than I can honestly remember. Didn't make a single wager (not a big deal) and didn't read a paper or look at the market for the whole week. S&P wound up down 6-7% for the week and I did a triple take when I finally clicked open my account.

But things do get better, they always do. Just makes you mindful there is always much to be thankful for.

Sorry about that one dude. It wasn't meant to be. Next one around the corner may be the Grade 1 winner.
