Pans Labrynth

About 2 months ago we initiated Saturday night as movie night switching off 1 week at our house and the other week at my brothers house. Thanks to a wonderful connection we've been able to see films like Borat,Children of Men,The Good Sheperd and Dreamgirls. For the kids we've had Happy Feet, and i must say it is more enjoyable when you're not shelling out $40 for 4 people. My brother had seen this movie Pans Labrynth about 2 weeks ago and asked me if i could ever get it to pick it up for him.Well i did and people it's one of the better movies i've seen in a very long time. It's in Spanish with English subtitles, and despite not seeing any other foreign films i woul'd be shocked if it didn't win the award for best foreign film.

A few posters were raving about that film on the board here a month ago- I'm so glad you liked it! I really thought it and "Childen of Men" were the best films of the Oscar season.

I saw it Friday night and liked it a lot. It isn't for the squeamish though, especially on the big screen.

Though I didn't think it was a bad movie, I had to turn away from the screen too many times because of some of the scenes to really enjoy it.

I'm really eager to-- I think Forrest Whitaker will get the Oscar unless they decide to give it to O'Toole because they're afraid he'll die before he'll get another chance. It kills me that my husband is leaving for an eight-month gig because, as a SAG member, he gets all kinds of free movie passes for two during awards season, but I can't use the passes without him with me! Argh!

Though we did get free copies of "The Departed" and "Venus" on DVD before the SAG awards, so that was cool. And "Little Miss Sunshine."
