Todd Pletcher

I've been away for a while(not locked up either). On looking over the PP's for GP for Saturday I see all of Todd Pletcher's horses now trained by Anthony Sciametta. Is Todd on a suspension? Is this one of his better assistants taking over for a while? If so how long will the suspension last? Thanks

He was offended that ALL his horses didn't make your " horses to watch " list and he gave up the game.

The obvious question? Which ONE did you leave off?

paisjpq 02-01-2007 04:52 PM

pletcher should be back soon I think...he is serving 45 days.

What is so bad about a "horses to watch" list? When fans stop making those is when we have a problem.

Who said there was something bad about them? I'm not sure if a list that includes EVERY horse is particularly helpful but to each his or her own.

Idiot may be a bit harsh, but it's pretty surprising in your case considering how much time you spend here and how much that topic has been discussed on this site.

Myself I'm just getting over Stone's revelation that there's now Sunday racing. And to think, all these years I've been wasting my Sunday's reading and helping the unfortunate.

I tend to skip any topic that gets "heated", as I don't add much to it (most trainer and/or jockey threads normally get a bit heated)... you guys are surrounded by this in the business, and unfortunately, I can't keep up with it to the level you guys do. In this case, I would definitely consider myself an idiot if not at the least, an ignoramus ;) . I should have known that Pletcher was suspended.

Thanks for the info. I thought he was probably in a suspension, I'd just never read when it started or when it was to end. And yes I have a watch list. Mine, like most everyone who works on one, changes often. It is fun to "spot" a good horse "before" they run. Then follow them as they mature. I use some of that info to help pick my horses for the Run For The Roses contest, and others like it. Since I like to spread my picks out, so they won't all be running against each other in the first few races. Many of the horses on my early list did not even run last year, and for me, that's a no-no for the Derby. I'm watching two racing tomorrow,Westwon and Another Vow. And, yes, I have several running Saturday including:Ravel, Liquidity, Pirates Deputy, Longley, Soaring By, Reata's Rocket, Forefathers, Scat Daddy, Sam P, Drums Of Thunder, Nobiz Like Showbiz, Silver Express, Rutledge Cat, and Torini. This, I know, is a lot of horses, but by no means all that are running. Some will find out if they can stretch out, some if they can run on dirt, some if they are just as good as they were as two year olds. In the RFTR contest, you can not even have as many horses as I'm watching the next two days. So several of these will be dropped by me after this weekend. Maybe you don't have a list of those you are following, and just wait for the draw for Derby posts. That's just not my way. Thank you Mr. Blackthroatedwind.

I don't think you'll be watching Westwon tomorrow as Oaklawn has cancelled through the weekend.

abe1947 02-01-2007 08:03 PM

You checked them out! I'm impressed! No really for me it's the fun of following colts like Scat Daddy and Nobiz as they train up to their first race and and win their MSW. Or ones like Longley who started training at Fair Hill and I hope makes the move from grass to dirt tomorrow. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. Can Reata's Rocket make the move from a Mth to a GP class track. This is what I like to do. Try to spot them before they run, and watch their progress. There will be few surprises by the end of Feb. You know a pro capper hits about 1/3 of their picks a race day, and most shy away from maidens. I like to try the maidens, and have about as good luck with them as most. Some like claimers, some bet only allowance races, others only stakes. A few maiden winners move on to stakes horses, most don't. To have backed that one who does, makes up for all the many who don't. On super bowl day everyone has a 50/50 chance at picking a winner, but how many followed that winner all the way.

You think you have it tough. I lurked on this board for six months before I made my first post two nights ago. That one got whacked in the first ten minutes. I think I'll play it safe for a few days and make a post under the "my favorite recipes' thread. I have a killer recipe for making toast.

All this from a simple question. Amazing!

abe1947 02-02-2007 04:38 PM

Well' Another Vow ran a game second, but could not run down the speedy Etude. He'll be dropped from my potential RFTR list. I feel he will be a very good allowance/stakes horse up to a mile on the east coast. He has some Turf potential also.
