oh good call... did serena's song do it?

Lady's Secret would be my guess.

blackthroatedwind 01-30-2007 01:23 PM

Lady's Secret might be the last one who did that and I'm not sure she won two Grade 1s. She definitely won the Whitney.

She got nailed in the Whitney and I believe the Haskell would be her other Grade 1 versus colts.

That Frankel horse Spoken Fur in 2003.

King Glorious 01-30-2007 01:26 PM

Dance Smartly did it in Canada. Winning Colors did it.

Did Winning Colors win the Santa Anita Derby and was it a Grade 1?

She did indeed and it was. She crushed them by about eight.

Dance Smartly won in restricted company not open grade 1's

cakes44 01-30-2007 01:37 PM

I would consider the SAD to be considered restricted company.

Yes, but she couldn't get by one of my favorites, Bounding Basque ( with Tony " never knew the rail " Graell ), in that Brooklyn.

I thought of mentioning her as well. She was a fine horse.

I haven't seen that race...if you know of anywhere that I can I would appreciate it...since I was 9 when she ran in it :o

thanks guys.. i as chatting to a lad at leopardstown and fillies and mares against colts on dirt somehow came up in our conversation (at a national hunt meeting!). I couldn't think of any recent filly/mare who regularly raced and beat the colts on dirt..
