MY Indiana Hoosiers

Boy they are playing some good ball right now. 14-4 and ranked 24th. I didnt think they would be anywhere close to making the NCAA tourney this year. K Sampson has they playing some very good ball. I also would like to think the early schedule had something to do with their success. I see about 4-5 more potential loses for them. That would give them 20 wins this year and that should get them in the tourney.

i agree euro, we finally have figured out we need to ride white. He's putting forth massive effort and its paying off. The guards are finally jelling. If we can keep shooting well we can play with any team in the country.

What Sampson did to Illinois re: Gordon was very underhanded. So much for ethics and one's word. Gordon, his father, and Sampson have ZERO credibility. Good to see the Illini take it to them last night.

I have very ambivalent feelings toward Sampson. He made Oklahoma very good but he has been involved is some shady stuff. I think he knows basketball and motivation but...

I dont like the Hoosiers at all and I think Sampson is shady, but unfortunately this is common in college recruiting-both football and basketball. I read where Nick Saban (i know, his word is air tight) is openly recruiting 3 guys that have verbally committed to LSU. It happens all the time. In this day of recruiting nothing is set in stone until they get signature. After the game Jay Bilas made a great point- Bruce Weber can only truly complain if it were the reverse of the situation (i.e Gordon signed with IU and wanted to go to Illinois) and he wouldve told Gordon that they werent going to recruit him, then he has a reason to bitch and moan. I doubt that wouldve been the case.

Having been through the recruiting wars a time or two, everyone is like a snake oil salesmen,,,, I heard last night that a big time QB that had verballed to Miami is now going to Bama so it happens,,,but what you dont hear about enough is a mid level recruit being told by that school they will give him a scholly and them verballing then after a so-so year they pull the scholly it works both way people and there a lot of shady things that go on trust me on that.

The question is what did Sampson do to get Gordon though? Sure, maybe Gordon didn't like Davis and when he left he decided to reconsider IU, but it's not as if Sampson is a coach top recruits would love to play for. He had a few decent teams at OU and was on a steady decline when he left. Why Gordon would want to play for a guy who's offensive philosophy yields 50 and 60 point games is beyond me. Gordon is 1 and gone so it seems he would want to play for a current top team with an up and down style as opposed to the 43 points of boredom put on display against the Illini. With the former Knight situation I believe Sampson was at the very least an embarrassing hire based on ethics alone. I don't believe he ranks much higher as a coach as he does ethically. That being said, there didn't seem to be people lining up for the job either.
