A rare sight
 

After taking the kids to Baskin and Robbins for an ice cream treat we get out and there we come upon a lady walking 4 dogs.All of them Greyhounds that she adopted.They were the most mellow dogs i've ever come across.She tells me they like to sleep all day and are great with people and have no desire to run.

I've always thought they were really cool...if it wasn't so damn cold here half of the year I would have considered getting one when I was dog hunting. But since my dog comes to work with me it had to be a little more cold weather friendly.

I grew up on the Canadian border in New Hampshire and we had to put a sweatshirt on the one we saved just so he could go outside to pee real quick! Poor guy needed to go south for the winters.

i've wanted a greyhound since i was about 12 years old. it's the only dog i ever want again.

i worked with a greyhound rescue group when i lived in portland, and the one thing you'll notice is that many of those who rescue these dogs have more than one. they're like pringles :)

they are without a doubt the nicest dogs i have ever met. when i worked with them we would go to events like equestrian events and about 8 owners would bring their dogs. my job? to take care of the dogs. so while cleaning up poop for 8 hours was job too -- i got to spend 8 hours hanging out with sometimes a dozen greyhounds.

i've enjoyed very few things more in the last few years than i did spending time with those dogs.

The lady that grooms our golden retriever and our cokkapoo has both a greyhound and an Italian greyhound. the greyhound is AWESOME, straight up chills. Italian greyhound is a pain in the ass.....

you can stack them in a can???:D just kidding.

tony says no more dogs. but i'd love to go to west memphis and adopt one. they aren't the prettiest dogs in the world, but true athletes and from all i've seen, they make wonderful pets. but you have to have a fence, and i haven't got one at the moment.

I'm not a big dog guy ( I hate animals and people equally ) but I have good friends who adopted two greyhounds, brothers actually, and they are awesome dogs. Very sweet.

The program for adopting greyhounds is really terrific.

I'm not to overly fond of most people....which is probably why I enjoy animals! :D

I have never seen a bunch of lazier dogs than greyhounds. You take them for a short walk once or twice a day and they will spend the rest of their day lying around or pretending they are lap dogs. I have also never seen a breed of dog so completely unaware of their size in relation to a human lap! :D

I can't wait to adopt one...

There's a lady in our neighborhood who has 5 of them. She rescued 4 and fosters the 5th one. She only has girls... she says that the males have problems marking their territory in the house. I wonder if that's because of being kenneled?

I still mark my territory in my house....even if I am the only one ever here:o

There's two greyhounds in my neighborhood. One is so fat it looks like a barrel set on top of four toothpicks.

When I take my hound to the dog park there's often a woman with 3 or 4 of them. Pretty amazing to see those things run in an open field. Very friendly also.

Here in Jacksonville, Fl, we have greyhound racing, so I see people walking retired racers all the time. Never had one, but they have a reputation of not being particularly smart, but very friendly. By the way, I agree with you sightseek, animals over most people.
