Track Floated?

Changes at Santa Anita today

http://www.santaanita.com/racing/changes.php

What does this mean, and is it something you should consider in your capping?

It was floated before the fri races and was kind to closers or maybe the closers were just the best horses. A double didget winner in the first race closing to beat the odds on favorite.

I wasn't sure either so I looked it up...a float is one of the attachments that they drag over the track and it squeezes out excess water.

Thanks!
Do you think that would make the track faster?

no idea...but my immediate thought would be no...because if it's dry and loose it would be more tiring? maybe? cause they might not get a good hold on the surface...like I said I don't know...I'm probably totally wrong.

No, it's not going to make it faster.

The track(Santa Anita) was actually closed this morning because it was frozen. We are having a cold-spell out here. It was about 28 degrees there last night and this morning.

It's 3:30 in the afternoon right now and the temperature is 52 degrees. That's unheard of for Los Angeles. I can't believe how cold it is.

this might sound retarded but does your house have heat?

Yes, I have heat but I don't need it. It never gets cold in my unit. I live in a condominium building. What's so strange is that it never gets cold in my place no matter what. I never have to use the heat. It never drops below 72 degrees in my unit. The thing that's so strange about it is that some other people in my buliding say that it gets really cold in their units.

Sometims it will be 50 degrees out at night and I look at my thermometer in my unit and it's 77 degrees. I actually have to open my windows for a few minutes to try to get it to cool down a couple of degrees.

I think floating means they put a couple inches of standing water on the track, and float chunks of amphetamine- like substances on top of it.Then they let Monteleone (or whoever ) take his horses out there to feast on it.That makes sense. That would explain how a 1 for 17 horse can go 10 wide on the turn and not get 1 bit tired.

Scuds, How long have you lived in Los Angeles? Do you ever remember it being this cold here?

2Hot4TV 01-14-2007 07:08 PM

I have lived here for 53 years and yes there has been a Artic Blast weather system that will bring this freeze.

I had to laugh at Doug O'neil waring the overcoat yesterday.
