Storm Uprising?
My computer is not working and I'm only able to use a friend's every few days so I'm going to throw this question out to you guys. Anyone have any info on this gelding? I have the pedigree Storm Cat/Hidden Lake, he's a 2001 foal, raced 3 times with 2 wins, and was trained by Lukas. He's at a thoroughbred rescue in N.Y. and a friend is looking to adopt him. She's a vet and says he seems sound and calm. I found it odd he was gelded with his pedigree though it could have been for medical reasons. They don't know why at the rescue. He sold for $400,000 at auction as a yearling or 2 yr. old (again they're not sure). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Deb

This is off the Pedigree Query
Foaled 5/13/01. A $400,000 yearling purchase by Overbrook Farm. Eventually dropped to $5,000 claiming ranks and subsequently purchased by breeder Carol Farmer. Storm Uprising is now among the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation horses. |
Thanks. I believe my friend is going to adopt him. Deb

WOW...it never fails to amaze me where these well bred horses end up...Of course everyone knows Storm Cat... and Hidden Lake is an eclipse winner! She won nearly a million dollars, and multiple graded stakes. Yet another really good racemare who doesn't reproduce herself...I'm glad the Farmers stepped in and claimed him for a proper retirement...those are the kind of owners that we need more of....I hope your friend enjoys him...Storm Cats can be difficult, could be why he was gelded.

My friend says he has a nice calm personality. Was very good when she flexed him and seemed well accustomed to handling. She's going back tomorrow to see him again. I was able to find Hidden Lake's races on my 1997 tapes so they could see her races. They also have a 6 year old mare by Unaccounted For out of an Unbridled mare. Deb
