Tampa Angle Concerning Calder.....
 

I have read in a couple publications and heard from others that Calder has a deep sandy surface. Now, today, for whatever reason, I started playing horses that did not fare well on the Calder surface and were shipped to Tampa for the first time. It seems to me that this is a possible angle, horses that do not take to the deep sandy Calder surface and then take to the Tampa surface. See the winner of the 3rd race today.

Tampa has surface pretty close to Calder IMO, Bigs, who lives there, will know exactly.

Tampa has a deep, sandy surface too, and more than likely, it is the weaker competition that helped that horse win than a surface change.

The place to bet CRC exports, that tired on or near the lead at Calder, is Gulfstream..

And did everyone note the 2 Bravo-Hammett Woodbine snowbirds that scored in the cheap CLM events at GP today?

Two major dropdowns, these guys could be the 2007 version of Mike Gill/Mark Shuman. I can't wait for the other claiming trainers to start crying.

They are fairly close and actually Tampa used to be deeper, but not so much the last 3 or so years. Doesn't mean that horses that love Calder automatically love Tampa. There are horses that love Tampa and hate Calder or vice versa. Mainly, it is the drop down in class that gets the CRC shippers home.

CRC shippers used to win a majority of the races at Tampa the first couple weeks, but I don't see it so much the last couple years. I'm finding the trainer angles being stronger than what track they last raced at as being the strongest factor. The other huge angle (as it is with most tracks) is the horse for the course. If they have had past success at Tampa, they will surely improve their form upon their return.

I know this doesn't help, but that's what I am seeing.

you're right about the Calder speed n fade transferring well in the cheaper races at Gulf.

I did see those two winners.... They must have had 40 people in the winners circle...

New paddock adjacent to the walking ring is an improvement...

They put up some more grandstand seating at the 1/16 pole. Actually a decent spot for the post parade. There's also an Arlington-type tent right behind it.

Had lunch at Chase on the 3rd floor. Pricey but decent. But, unless you are sitting in the first row of tables, you can't see the entire stretch since the VIP boxes almost totally block the view.

The giant fish tank in the slot machine room is all I had hoped it would be.

The interestin thing on one of them was the drop down from being claimed for 20K at woodbine and dropping into a 12.5 claimer. With the currency difference from the loony to the dollar, how big a drop was this really :confused: My buddy said the canadien hosses are cheap, but on track the 9 looked mighty good physically. cashed the p3, but tried to beat him to start the next p3, not a good idea :D

ooh I can't wait for Saturday. Thanks Kasept for reminding me of another angle. Canadians coming to Gulfstream and winning at big odds last year hopefully no one has been clued in and it still works.

Many horses ship from Calder and do well. I'll never forget the time I hit an 80-1 running at Delaware.

as far as Tampa goes.. I haven't played many but I look for trainer Samuel Cronk teamed up with Juan Umana
it doesn't always pay but I hate to let them go off in double figures
