With all due respect, it was Coa on the 2/5 shot that was trying to put her over the fence, just as he just tried to do to Fragoso in the stretch of the 9th race. Coa tried to kill 2 jockeys in the span of an hour. Perhaps the jocks should do something about him, or at least the stewards should ban him.

I'd like to see her make it big in the valley.

hockey2315 12-27-2006 04:05 PM

I'm not so sure Coa was at fault in the 9th. . . I would've had the exacta if they pulled his 10 down so I was hoping (not redboarding, just showing that I had an interest in the race and still don't really think the 10 should've been pulled down), but the 6 was all over the place even after Coa had blown by him. . . I agree that Chantal probably doesn't belong in NY. . .

SCUDSBROTHER 12-27-2006 04:28 PM

I really don't think they will do anything about the Coa/Chantal incident in the 7th.The guy is a master intimidator. He doesn't actually cut her off,but he makes it seem that he is going to.He does a lot of borderline stuff.

I have no idea what this means but as far as the topic of this thread....have you actually watched Chantal Sutherland's rides in NY this year? She is blindingly incompetent.

yes ive watched chantal ride quite a bit throughout her career. tell me something why is she competent enough to ride and ride at a nice win% at woodbine but not competent enough to ride in ny?

I never saw her in Canada but I have seen a lot of her in NY. She is dangerously bad. That I know.

How can you say that? There are many incompetent riders in NY, she isn't one of them, all of them just try to gang up on her and intimidate her. Witness Coa trying to put her over the rail in yesterday's 7th, all he succeeded in doing though was getting a 2-5 shot beaten instead.

I am no Coa fan, and he does some dangerous things at times, but yesterday was a sad example of her incompetence. She rode that horse scared from the start and was in a position where she needed to be aggressive. Instead she was practically pulling the horse up the entire backstrecth before backing into another horse entering the turn ( OK, the horse she backed into was ridden by another menace, Alan Garcia, who had no business being where he was, but still....). A competent jockey, of which I agree there are dangerously few in NY right now, would have either settled her mount or gotten the hell out of there more safely.

One needs to go no further than her ride on Baby Gray on October 22nd at Belmont to see that she has no business being here. She is simply scared and out of her element.

Left Bank 12-28-2006 12:42 PM

Her ability,or lack thereof, may explain the mounts she gets and the small win percentage.I think competent trainers in New York realize this.

Gander 12-28-2006 12:59 PM

Coa didnt really look like he wanted to win that 9th race aboard Star Humor.
Log Jam put in a nice rally but didnt exactly blow by like a freight train. Coa stopped riding well before the line. Makes me wonder.

You guys keep ripping this poor girl, yet she is on two super live horses for Saturday. And for your information kimmiestar, both of the young trainers riding her are extremely competent.

in all fairness, I don't watch New York racing very often except for Saratoga -- but Chantal was in Florida last winter and for as much as she gets ripped to pieces, I've seen her make more than her share of smart rides down there often getting horses into contention that shouldn't have had a chance in the first place.

Riding at Woodbine and riding in NY isn't exactly the same thing, wouldn't you say? She will never have the same sucess in NY that she had in Canada, that's just a fact.
