I only got 3 correct. But I also have a hard time remembering yesterday.

Hickory Hill Hoff 12-20-2006 06:03 AM

Steve's right, it was tough! 2/10 ugh!!!

paisjpq 12-20-2006 06:39 AM

that was fun even though I sucked...3/10

**well done Hoss**

KirisClown 12-20-2006 06:50 AM

I'll make the next one a little easier... :)

I didnt do so well (3 of 10) but it was fun and brings back fond memories of the great 90's, a time where we saw champions that actually ran in races.
Best Pal, Skip Away, Cigar, Lure, Star of Cozzene, Paradise Creek, Formal Gold, Holy Bull, Go for Gin, Awad, Silver Charm, Real Quiet, Bertrando, Go for Wand.

Geez, werent we ever spoiled. I'd be hard pressed to comprise a list that half holds a candle to this so far in this decade.

3/10...can't believe Holy Bull wasn't favored.

I only managed getting 6 of 10 right myself. Probably didn't think a few of them through deep enough.

I was tripped up on the same question as TG. Holy Bull and Halo's Image got caught up in a WILD speed duel in the '94 Fountain of Youth....Holy Bull looked like he was put away by Halo's Image, and ended up finishing dead last beaten 25 lengths.

Halo's Image, seemed to be running a gigantic race...but than suddenly bolted the turn and totally took himself out of the race...I think he only managed to beat Holy Bull.

In the Florida Derby, Holy Bull and Halo's Image would not hook up in an insane speed duel this time....as Holy Bull would ride an uncontested early lead to an emphatic victory.

Meanwhile, Halo's Image missed 2nd by a nose in the 14 horse field. He was nosed out by Ride the Rails...who, is probably most famously known as the sire of the incredibly talented Candy Ride. Earlier in that GP meeting, Ride the Rails upset 1/10 favorite Dehere in his Breeders Cup Juvie comeback.

I missed three of the jockey questions, and the fla derby question for a score of 6/10.

I've always sucked at jockey trivia, probably as a result for my disdain of them.

Started out hot with the first three then missed them all until number 9. 4 of 10 for me

You should be careful about trying to appear sharp about races that took place while you were still in diapers. Holy Bull, and of course the duel cooked him, is one of the few horses that genuinely seemed to displace in the Fountain of Youth ( and may have created a stampede of horsemen using that as a fake excuse in the future ) and as you pointed out, the speed duel never materialized in the Florida Derby, but that race was also contested over a souped up speed track.

I think Ride the Rails was more famous for beating Dehere that day.

TheSpyder 12-20-2006 04:42 PM

What was your score BTW?

And BTW scored?

I got two

KirisClown 12-20-2006 04:51 PM

Here's that Fountain of Youth.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoDOQ-pdO0A

The way he stopped, there's no debating he displaced....

6 of 10.

I know I blew the Go for Gin/Holy Bull question ( I KNEW it was a trick! )...I also got trapped in the Sword Dancer question and I forget where else.

It was a good quiz.
