no different than randy moss saying he doesn't give 100% if he doesn't feel like it.
dallas got what they knew they were going after. i feel no sympathy for them and their situation.

and would you elaborate on the irvin comments? not sure what that is about.

He said that maybe back in the day, Romo's great-great-great-great grandmother was sneaking slaves into her room and that's how the black got injected into the family. Something like that. It was very embarrassing to hear. I thought Irvin should have been fired on the spot. And I'm black.

I am a Mestizo Indian and was offened by the comments as well
I've come to the conclusion wide receivers are a-holes
guess that's why I was a DB, loved to level them
Irvin must have some friends in high places
he gets busted for coke, says it was his friend's he's trying to "help"
people understand
now this?
3 rings goes a long way, I suppose

let's be honest, if that had been a white guy that had said the same thing, He would have been fired on the spot and jesse jackson would be camping in front of his house. Its a stupid double standard.

Certainly it was a classless thing to say but we as a society are way too sensitive to stuff like this! I'd rather worry about what people do rather than what they may say...sure these types of remarks show that all of us have learned the lessons of prejudice and bigotry well and why not...we are bombarded with them from cradle to grave. Say the same thing in a backroom or a board room and everybody laughs...punishing some schmuck for saying something stupid may make us feel better but it's more important to address the process rather than an incident! I do have to laugh when someone brings up Jesse and seems upset cause a black man seems to be treated better than a white man...sorta ironic in context isn't it?

yeah, i searched it on espn after i saw this thread. said that romos ability has to come from a black ancestor. that romos grandmother must have brought some black men into her bedroom.

and once again, as usual, a double standard. one set of rules for some, another set for others.

Parcells is a coach, not Owens' father! If he needs attention like this to perform at his best, then the Cowboys made a bad decision! And Irvins' comments should've been dealt with as harshly as Campanis, and The Greek(both of whom could at least use alcohol in their defense) This crap is a PRIME example of why I'd rather watch college football!

As long as that fairy gets a td or two tonight he can say what he wants as far as i'm concerned.

I'm not being suckered into anything. I understand where Irvin was coming from and as Somerfrost mentioned earlier, if this was said in the locker room or something like that, it would have gotten big laughs. I would have been laughing too. But it wasn't said in the locker room. It was said on national tv. I don't think it was something that came from a racist point of view from Irvin as much as it was a racial stereotype. What offends me is the double standard, even though it works in favor or black people. If they want to let Irvin get away with that or Barkley get away with some of the stuff they say, I have no problem with it. But then u can't turn around a fire a white guy that makes a racial statement. There can't be an uproar when a coach says that he needs to get more black players to throw and hand the ball off too because they are better athletes and more white players to throw it to them. Be consistent is all I ask. It's the same thing with affirmative action. We've (speaking of black people) never wanted to be treated different or given certain advantages. We just want to be treated equally. Sometimes that equal treatment will work out good for us. Sometimes, it won't.

Picture the response if it were Troy Aikman making those statements instead of Irvin.

Glorious is right.

didn't Rush Limbugh says something along the same lines regarding McNabb and was fired for it immediately? not to take up for Rush, he's a real dirtbag

the fact that michael feels that athleticism must come from black heritage indicates racial bias. you know, 'white boys can't jump' and all that...
