4th Annual Kinsem Awards

we should hold a vote soon
although I'm concerned about poster awards though

hmm...how can you name it anything else besides the greatest horse EVER
didn't she beat also-rans running backwards?
I suppose ESPN can have it, although it was the brain(love)-child of Somer and myself and we both reside here now, I think
but I'm cool with whatever, although I do enjoy an alternative to the Eclipse Awards
Derby Trail Awards? The Kasept? The Overpriced AP Indy Spirit Awards?
help me out...

Buffymommy 12-15-2006 08:58 AM

Why not the Derby Trail Awards? Sounds good to me. Since that is where we all are now and isn't this the best site EVER?

1st banned was secretariat/blockhead...

Scav 12-15-2006 09:18 AM

Someone find out how many TOTAL Eclipse Awards there are so I can come up with the same amount of awards for this

We will correspond these awards with the Eclipse Awards

Alright, I can't think of all those, but I could have some fun with it.....I will think of 5-6 awards

saucon17 12-15-2006 09:39 AM

Scav, there is 16 Major awards for the horses and people in the industry
there are 7 for media.

Buffymommy 12-15-2006 09:41 AM

who is going to get "Poster of the Year".... :)

Sounds like fun! Whatever you guys want to call is is fine!

BellamyRd. 12-15-2006 10:26 AM

ok, let's just do what the eclipse votes on
no individual poster awards, as in the past ppl have had their feelings hurt
and that's not what we were shooting for on conception, nor what SB wants
like Scavs said, it's a new era on derby trail
why don't we leave it the coveted "Kinsem"
as a tribute to Pennsylvania Johnny
cool with everybody? ok we need someone to tally

Coach...at least spell Kincsem correctly...lol! Who started these, I forget...was it you or Chris?

I like the individual poster awards

I think of some awards and then get them approved with Steve

Fine, then have your little party...I thought the idea was to encourage folks to participate? If it means that much to you to dictate things then have fun!

oracle80 12-15-2006 03:42 PM

I thought those awards at ESPN when many of us were there were very nice. I don't recall anyone having their feelings hurt at all. It was a nice tradition, and this board is one million times better but owes much of its success to the mass exodus of ESPN posters who got this place up and flying immediately, which I 'm sure helped make it all the more appealing to folks who stopped by and came onboard.
It Steve's place and his decision Scav, but Somer started those a long time ago.

I for one am not going through 17 awards to vote for it.

I worded it wrong, my bad

What I am saying is Somer did a real good job coming up with those awards and the categories. Its very disprespectful to him.

Actually, while I helped a bit, I didn't actually start them...I thought Chris did but it could have been Coach. I thought Chris because of Kincsem...his favorite as well as mine! I don't care how it's done, if it's done but I agree that the poster awards were nice! We didn't use all the cats, just horses, trainers, jocks and owners as I recall (probably breeders too)....but i think if the goal is to have everyone participate, one person shouldn't dictate! Other than stating that opinion, I have no intention of getting involved in pettiness!

Danzig 12-15-2006 04:23 PM

i think we should leave this whole idea alone. other than having some good posters here that used to be at espn, i'd just as soon leave espn-ness over there.
no doubt when eclipse award finalists are announced, a thread will be started and everyone will give their opinion on how it should go, or how they would vote. that's good enough for me.

BellamyRd. 12-15-2006 05:39 PM

I don't get why people are anti-ESPN
not like the place was a torture chamber
John, I think Chris came up with the name
I came up with the categories
hard to remember, but it was a group effort
where is Chris btw?
well, whatever, I thought it was a nice tradition
Oracle did a great job of running it last year
actually this may be the 5th annual Kincsems

Coach,
Yeah that sounds right! Chris works long hours and he's got someone very very special in his life right now...!
