but I'm cool with whatever, although I do enjoy an alternative to the Eclipse Awards

Why not the Derby Trail Awards? Sounds good to me. Since that is where we all are now and isn't this the best site EVER?

Someone find out how many TOTAL Eclipse Awards there are so I can come up with the same amount of awards for this

Alright, I can't think of all those, but I could have some fun with it.....I will think of 5-6 awards

Scav, there is 16 Major awards for the horses and people in the industry
there are 7 for media.

no individual poster awards, as in the past ppl have had their feelings hurt
and that's not what we were shooting for on conception, nor what SB wants

Since it's open to all, probably should vote first on name and format (catagories included) and then vote for selections.

I like the individual poster awards

Fine, then have your little party...I thought the idea was to encourage folks to participate? If it means that much to you to dictate things then have fun!

I thought those awards at ESPN when many of us were there were very nice. I don't recall anyone having their feelings hurt at all. It was a nice tradition, and this board is one million times better but owes much of its success to the mass exodus of ESPN posters who got this place up and flying immediately, which I 'm sure helped make it all the more appealing to folks who stopped by and came onboard.
It Steve's place and his decision Scav, but Somer started those a long time ago.

What I am saying is Somer did a real good job coming up with those awards and the categories.Its very disprespectful to him.

Actually, while I helped a bit, I didn't actually start them...I thought Chris did but it could have been Coach. I thought Chris because of Kincsem...his favorite as well as mine! I don't care how it's done, if it's done but I agree that the poster awards were nice! We didn't use all the cats, just horses, trainers, jocks and owners as I recall (probably breeders too)....but i think if the goal is to have everyone participate, one person shouldn't dictate! Other than stating that opinion, I have no intention of getting involved in pettiness!

i think we should leave this whole idea alone. other than having some good posters here that used to be at espn, i'd just as soon leave espn-ness over there.
no doubt when eclipse award finalists are announced, a thread will be started and everyone will give their opinion on how it should go, or how they would vote. that's good enough for me.
