First day here,
Names Kyle, been a part of owning race horses since the day i was born.

I've become overly interested in breeding in the sport.

I'd like to know

A)just everyones favorite sire overall

B)and most importantly to me, everybodies favorite quiet sire, ya know, not the biggest name, but a solid old stud that you just love to see pop up in an everyday allowence or claimer.

my favorite stud overall is the great AP, kinda cliche but ive owned many second generation Indys that ive loved and my favorite quiet sire has got to be meadowlake, dont ask me why exactly but i love the horse.

So give me an idea of my new fellow threaders (word?)

Unusual Heat is a HUGE Thorograph angle. His runner improve close to like 6 points first turf, it is insane

Man forgot about More Than Ready they can run on anything

I think so Saucon, Frank Lyons tells the story about Unusual Heat all the time on TVG. I think that Abrams thought he would be a good stallion and took a shot and stood him himself or something

I definitly agree with the Not For Love, but if i were to go into local sires most people would be left scratching their heads of whom i was talking about.

Oklahoma breds don't really do it for most people.

First sire we ever bred to stands now in OK. In Case and a horse I use to take
of when I was a hotwalker at Del Park named Deodar

In Case was very solid for the locals

however it's already apparent that Okla breds will become more of a factor in US racing.

I probably have adifferent prospective here since I base my opninion on sires on what I think of their babies as foals...not necessarily on runners...
favorite overall..has to be good old Crafty Prospector--but that may be because I have been around a bunch of his babies and they are always cooler than the rest...even if they don't go on to become good runners.

Quiet sire has already been mentioned...More Then Ready (check his babies they all have his eye, and the same facial expression)

my favorite in recent years has to be dynaformer.
he sires horses that just seem to have a certain charisma (see barbaro, perfect drift, mcdynamo).
although many of his top offspring seem to have seconditis in their big races (see film maker, dynever, perfect drift) i like the fact that i never have to wonder if a dynaformer "can get this distance."
also, i always really liked riskaverse for some reason, and she was yet another talented dynaformer.

favorite sire ever. oh boy, let me think....

northern dancer was a bundle of dynamite in a small package. sired a lot of good horses, and back when books weren't like they are now. an incredible horse, a great sire, a huge influence worldwide.

honorable mention would go to slew and danzig, as well as sunday silence, who stamped the entire racing community in his adopted country. he did for japan what the dancer accomplished in north america and europe, and danehill in australia.

My favorite stallion would probably be Quiet American. Can get you a foal who can handle any surface... they tend to like some distance but can compete in the shorter races. Carries multiples of strong females and is intensely inbred which is a good reason why his daughters are producing so well.

My favorite "under the radar" stallion is Northern Spur. LOVE him! Amazing family and improves horrible mares. Look at his numbers... just great.

O yes Quiet American. the next great, and i mean GREAT, mare sire. Get a filly out of a Quiet American mare at 3 or 4 and watch out. Like you said any distance any surface be careful it could very well run off from the group.

One of my favorites. Made some nice scores with those Diane and Peter
Perkins homebreds by Lord At War. They run on any surface. His son in
Penn. Patton has sired some decent horse that run on all surfaces

the answer to just about any question regarding the top sire is Marias Mon.

sprint, route, turf, dirt,....whatever

Love seeing a fat grey Marias Mon walk out for a first time starter.

yeah,
i dont know what commercially is appealing,
but his are runners.
and they win early and move forward.


I know it depends on the mare you have, but everything else being equal, thats where i would go.
